Breakfast at DKNY sounds like the perfect way to start a busy work day and that’s exactly what I did last week at the Bond Street flagship store, a whole hour before it opened the doors to shoppers.
DKNY hosted a bloggers breakfast to preview the Resort 2010 collection literally hours after the store was given a huge, holiday make-over.
The best thing about the DKNY store is the in store cafe-bar, serving up treats baked by the DKNY pastry team, headed up by a former chef at The Ritz.
We started the day with lattes and some slices of delicious banana and walnut bread and were supplied with a slice of Quiche Lorraine to take away for our lunch.
So on to the collection…Autumn/Winter is DKNY’s real strength and it continually does better than most New York labels. It’s that knowing combination of luxurious and tough textures that give them that cool ‘Manhattan girl’ edge.
The Resort 2010 collection is a mix of luxe classics and ‘girl about town’ wear for the day and bold, colour block and sequin party dresses for night.
DKNY have some fantastic pieces ready for the Christmas party season – feather-sequin skirts, crystal-covered dresses and the most amazing structured, strapless top and skirt with a flirty peplum that comes in an eye-catching vermillion shade.
One of my favourite looks was a patterned gold lurex skirt teamed up with a white tee, a charcoal grey cashmere boyfriend cardie and some highly covetable leather and suede ankle boots.
The skirt also looked great matched up with a slouchy grey marl tee, a shaggy knitted black sleeveless jacket and a rock ‘n’ roll silver belt.
Take a look at some the divine ankle boots, charcoal cashmere jumpers and adorable felt berets and add to your Christmas wish list…

DKNY’s collection of bags is a real highlight and I’ve already fallen for the delightful, butter-soft red leather satchel and need it in my life!
For its Resort collection bags, DKNY has channelled the greatness of Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler’s PS1 and classic quilted Chanel fused with its own urban NYC look.
DKNY’s ankle boots really complete the look and feel incredibly soft and beautifully made. The bold, illustrated wellington boots are adorable and will have you splashing around the winter puddles with glee. How could you ever be sad, wearing whimsical canary yellow wellies!
DKNY Resort Collection 2010 is now available at DKNY store, 27 Old Bond Street, London W1
