Hummingbird Bakery launches summer cupcakes

July 12, 2010 by

This month, Hummingbird Bakery, home of London’s original American-style cupcakes, goes quintessentially British with its new Summer flavours, inspired by this season’s florals and pastels from the catwalk and countryside.

Whoopie Pies threatened to topple cupcakes as London’s favourite baked treats, but I reckon these hand-decorated cakes with sugared petals and lightly scented butter cream frosting will beat Whoopies hands down for prettiness.

Every day of the week, Hummingbird Bakery pay tribute to a different flower and here’s the limited edition cupcake menu, so you can arrange your ‘accidental stroll’ past the bakery…summer diet, anyone??

Mon: Violet – Crystallised violets, violet infused frosting and sponge.
Tues: Rose – Crystallised rose petals, butter cream icing, rose water sponge.
Wed: Jasmine – Jasmine scented butter cream frosting with jasmine sponge.
Thurs: Apple Blossom – Green apple frosting and a light apple tea sponge.
Fri: Cherry Blossom – Japanese-inspired cherry blossom tea cupcake
Sat: Orange Blossom – Zesty orange frosting, orange flower water sponge.
Sun: Lavender – Lavender perfumed frosting and lavender sponge.

Hummingbird Bakery cakes, pies and brownies are now available to order online with delivery to most London post codes.
