Christmas make-up collections are always about the sparkle, but how many times have you applied a stunning eye colour and been left with bare eyes and a face covered in glitter?
Luckily, Boots 17 have come up with a sophisticated approach to the festive look, with colours that will take you from the office to the party!
Last week, I met up with the Handpicked Media beauty crew at The Match Bar to try out Boots 17’s new Starry Eyes collection. Over Bellinis, Mojitos and mezze in abundance, we previewed the new seasonal collection and I was super impressed with the eye colours!
Highly pigmented and super smooth, the Starry Eyes trios are a real delight to use and the effects range from subtly glowing to intense party eyes.
The rich, jewel shades perfectly reflect the colours of winter, including shimmering golds, deep damson, twinkling midnight blue and khaki.
My favourite is the trio of dark purple, shimmering gold and black with flecks of gold, as it looks so opulent, regal and sophisticated. It’s also really adaptable for day to night and complimentary to most skin tones.
The glitter eyeliners are also extremely easy to use and leave a fine, light-reflecting trail of sparkles when applied along the lashline.
They can be used to jazz up eyes for the evening or more subtly along the inner side of the upper lash. The glitter eyeliners were also durable and long-lasting and they hardly budged when I tested them.
Also in the winter collection is 17’s Wild Curls mascara and a matte nail varnish top coat. I’m still unconvinced by matte nail varnish, as it has to be applied so evenly to get a decent look, but as far as matte top coats go, 17’s is extremely quick-drying and reasonably long-lasting.
The best thing about the Sparkle Eyes collection is the price point – everything is really affordable. The eyeshadow trios are just £4.99 and the glitter eye liners are £3.99.
Very few similarly low-priced brands offer the superior quality of the Starry Eyes collection and I’m sure you’ll be as surprised as I was to see just how intense and long-lasting they can be.
