Chérie Lust-Have: New Season Vivienne Westwood Coat

July 27, 2010 by

Autumn/winter 10-11 is all about the statement coats and Queen Viv certainly knows a thing or two about statements…and coats!

It seems bizarre to be pining after wool and tweed textures in the baking July heat, but really, this dream coat found me.

Throwing a twist on a perennial classic, this slightly gauche Vivienne Westwood Red Label coat is perfect for channelling the new womanly silhouette, with puff shoulders, slim-cut waist and an asymmetric lapels.

Made of wool, alpaca and mohair, this coat is a stylish way to keep super warm when the weather starts to turn on us and is a great alternative to the quilted ‘Euro’ jacket or fur coat.

I’m usually very fussy about over-stated logos, but just three signature orb buttons seems to stick within the realms of ‘good taste’. It’s not cheap at £689, but it’s a luxury quality coat that will never go out of style.  It will probably stay on my wish list in reality, but one can but dream…while others shop!
